Les Cedre - Lebanese Restaurant

The first time, i tried Lebanese food was in Berlin, Germany. Since then I became a fan of Lebanese food.

So when i heard, there is an authentic Lebanese restaurant, I had to try it out.
My first Lebanese treat in Vienna was in Les Cedre.
I had:
- Entree (were delicious)
+ Tabbuli
+ Sambusik Biljibneh
+ Sambusik Billahmeh
- Main course:
+ Shawarma Lahme (a little bit disappointed)

- Beverage
+ Date Honey Juice (tasted rather sweet but great, like it)

All in all, worth a try - would go there again for sure.

Strandbar at the "Naschmarkt"

Naschmarkt is the biggest market in Vienna. Nowadays, it is also famous for small restaurants of all origins. Many of them offer Asian food. The one I tried out today does not.

As the name assumes, Strandbar is a little restaurant offering seafood - perfect seafood! They have about 50 seats, 3 waiters and 2 cooks.
I ordered the Strandbar Plate for 2 person. It was filled with Jumbo Gambias, Tuna steaks (medium and tender), Salmon Steaks (just right to the point), Jumbo Shrimps, Greenland mussels (they didnt taste like rubber), calamaris (really delicious!!) and zander filets.
The price for the 2 person plate was 59,90 euro. Well for the quantity and the quality, it was really worth it and is really to be recommended.

What else do they offer?
+ 3 differend kinds of oysters
+ Lobsters
+ Many different sorts of fish
+ Mussels
- funny waitress who (the right term would be) drove away a customer, who has already ordered. She mainly did make jokes about the choices that customer made ...
+ good wines and champagnes to go with the delicious seafood and fish

Free Knorr Vie sample

Today, i got a free Knorr Vie "summer limited edition" sample with grapes, bananas and rhubarb. For those who doesn't know what Knorr Vie actually is.

It is a tiny vitamin drink covering 50% of the daily needs on "Fruit and Vegetables" of an average adult. Well, there are different flavors like carrots+something, blood orange+something. And the new flavor on their marketing plan seems to be -> grapes/bananas/rhubarb.

Every flavor tastes awful, yes awful, not awesome!! It is VERY sweet, very viscous, very gruesome!!! Yes gruesome is the perfect word describing the tastes.

Actually i looked on the ingredients, it says: concentrated this Juice, concentrated that Juice .... apple pectin (to make it vicious), fibers, "Acelorepueree" (whatever that is, sounds chemical anyway).

And i wonder why it says, it covers 50% of the daily needs on "fruit and vegetable", AND NOT the needs on Vitamins or whatever else a human body does need everyday. I wonder, after all these concentration process if there is any vitamins left at all ...

Another marketing gag ?

Loisium + Aveda Spa

The whole weekend was so relaxing. The trip to Hotel and Spa Resport Loisium was really worth it. The hotel is a specially designed architectural brick with modern design furniture, indoor spa area, great vintage lounges to relax, different saunas and heated outdoor pool. IN addition, the hotel restaurant offerings are D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S.

The hotel is surrounded by a vast vine garden with another architectural brick in the middle of it. The Loisium kellerwelt is a vine museum with special areas for vine degustations and a huge shop for vine lovers.

I booked 2 SPA treatments. 1: manicure. 2: Shirodhara (in German: ayurvedischer Stirnguss)

The Shirodhara would be really great, if the lying position were not so uncomfy. I had to put my head rather backwards and so at the end i became noxious. The other problem was. I have really long hair. And the liquid was a rose-oil-gel and the most of it ended in my hair. It smelled great afterwards, but my thick hair got so heavy. Another reason why I became noxious. Anyway, I think the next spa visit will be a simple massage.

Pictures from the hotel will follow.

Tea :: Rooibos and Honeybush

Today, I stopped by at Demmers Tea Shop looking for something exotic. And there I was, besides the hundred different sorts of fruit teas, Asian teas and Russian teas, I found something interesting and exotic for me.

(Non)Delicious Food part III - Mister Lee (Quick Lee)

Mister Lee is a rather new Asia food chain store in Vienna. I have heard that their sushis are quite good and authentic, so i tried it out today at lunch.

At Quick Lee's in Schwedenplatz i bought a mixed sushi - maki box and a Peking duck pancake.
The box contained: 1x tuna sushi, 1x salmon sushi, 1x butterfish sushi and 4x vegetable makis.

However, i must admit that the size of the sushis and makis are quite authentic. Many Japanese restaurants serve huge rice nuggets nowadays, which are really taboo in Japan. The salmon sushi was really fresh and good, but i am not so positive about the tuna and butter fish sushis. They did not seem to be as fresh as the salmon sushi.

One thing, what I am badly disappointed with, is the Peking duck roll. It has absolutely nothing to do with a Peking duck at all. It was merely a piece of fried duck with insufficient sauce, cucumber and leeks rolled into a pancake.

All together, I think the quality matched the price.

Delicious Food part II - Bar di Mar

Hot Hot Hot ! About 30 degrees and i spent the whole day at the university.

In the two hours of midday break, i spend my lunch at the new "bar di mar" at Nashmarkt. The place is rather narrow and tight, but it is air conditioned. So a big plus for a hot day like this.

My meal (Because it was so hot i only ate some cold startups):

* 3 x Oysters "fin de claire" (6,5 EURO)
* Avocado crawfish salad with chili-lime dressing (9 EURO)
with italian baguette.

It was all fine, the oysters were huge and really fresh. And the Avocado crawfish salad was alright and interesting.
I will definitely check it out again and try out their gambias, they do serve those huge ones with garlic sauce. It looked really delicious and smelled delicious as well. Mjammmjammm.

Cheers.

Delicious Food part I - Kutschker44

In Vienna, there are many good restaurants i have tested and i really do love. The price varies from 35 EURO to 100 EURO per person for a meal including entree and dessert. For a different price you can expect a different quality.

Yestday on the 15. May 2007, i was in a restaurant called Kutschker44, located in the 18. district in Vienna. This restaurant is rather new (they celebrated their two years anniversay in september 2006) and does offer a really great atmosphere partly due to their nice and elegant, but not too overwhelming interior and partly due to their open kitchen. You can watch the chef prepare your meal at the cooking bar. In addition to this bonus the restaurant offer a great variety of popular austrian wines for a rather straightforward price.
