The workload goes up to 6. As a result the qnaps freezes and is not useable for a few minutes.
Whether syslog, nor Top or dmesg can help me indicating the root of the evil !
I guess i have to send the qnap back, but then what?
- Order the same qnap again
- Order the bigger brother with better CPU and more RAM
- Look for another NAS of an utterly different company

A small excursus: what is a patent troll?
Patent troll is a pejorative term used for a person or company that enforces its patents against one or more alleged infringers in a manner considered unduly aggressive or opportunistic, often with no intention to manufacture or market the patented invention. [wikipedia]
Being a patent troll can bring a lot of money. So why am i against it?
It is often the case that a patent holder just has a lot of money to buy a lot of patents as a monetary investment. So those real inventors (who have the real idea and the gut to do the research and market the invention) will be hindered at doing what they are supposed/born to do. And this is just ugly in my eyes. Anything i have learned in the innovation lecture last year is that our society as it is now is built on new inventions and innovations. Without them we would still be in the pre-stone age eating raw meat and freeze in the darkness of the endless nights. So making money at the expense of great innovations maybe to come and our futures disgusts me !
The rise of the patent trolls
Today, I had a chat with an university professor about the problem of patent trolls. Patent trolls do not only exist in the dimension of IT, but also seemingly in the show biz world.A small excursus: what is a patent troll?

The notarization has to be carried out in a given order:
First: go to a district court. Pay 16 Euro for a single signature notarization. Pay 51 euro for three signature notarization.
Second: go to the civil court (for example the Viennese civil court). Pay 12 Euro for the supplementary certification.
Third: go to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Pay 16.40 Euro for the supplementary certification of the supplementary certification.
At Last: go to the foreign embassy/consulate (in this case: the Chinese consulate) to pay for the Chinese certification of the supplementary certification of the supplementary certification. TO get the speed-up stamp pay double the price. As simple as that ...

Did i ever mention, i hate Mondays ? Not because they are Mondays, but because Mondays are mostly related to confusing, weird, peculiar new tasks brought to me, which i mostly dislike a great deal.
The problem that follows: those Monday tasks stays for the rest of the week..

Living in the new appartement ist great ! Cooking on my brandnew cooking plate is extra ordinary. Put a pot of water on the cooking plate, make a 360 degree turn and 'KABOOOOM' the water is boiling. So, it happens that if i turn around, the water in the pot overflows and the pots swims away on the cooking plate. Bye Bye dinner !?

Linsberg Asia was built a few years ago. It is brandnew, clean, and really a beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature. The thermae is situated on the Linsberg, a small hill surrounded by trees only. Linsberg Asia's homepage says the termae has 8 pools. I found 7 yesterday. Quite a huge place to explore! In the SPA area they are even 2 whirlpools, different experimental showers, waterbeds, sun beds, tanning booth, infrared cabins, several saunas and one steam bath. Another huge bonus point for Linsberg Asia is the fact, that the termae areas do NOT smell annoyingly after chlorine, unlike other thermaes and pools.
From the technological point of view, the thermae offers the visitors a watchalike rfid chip (i am guessing) and this chip can open/lock cabins, safes. In addition, you dont need any cash in the food court (unlike other thermae/SPA facilites) because you can use this chip as payment. Simply place the chip on the readers and the meal will be booked into the system.
The arrvial with trains is a bit annoying. But, they offer a free service called shuttelbus, which will pick you up from the Bad Erlach train station. So no need for a timewasting and tiring walk up to the hill. Until end of July the entree fee is cut off half: 2 entrees for the price of one. Entree fee is 25 Euro, so quite okay for the service and recreational value the thermae offers!
Linsberg Asia
I spent the last day in the thermae Linsberg Asia in Bad Erlach. Actually it is the second thermae i have visited in Austria. The other one is thermae Oberlaa, which is rather old, somewhat dirty and filled with annoying children.Linsberg Asia was built a few years ago.
